The Costa Rican women's national soccer team represents Costa Rica in international women's soccer . The national team is subordinate to the Football Association of Costa Rica and is coached by Garabet Avedissián . The selection took part in six previous North American Championships , with second place in 2014 , the greatest success so far. Costa Rica has not yet participated in a World Cup or the Olympic Games, but was able to qualify for the 2015 World Cup in Canada for the first time by finishing second in 2014.
On March 14, 2012, the team achieved 40th place in the FIFA world rankings . After the USA, Canada and Mexico, it is the fourth strongest team in CONCACAF . In March 2013, she won a tournament in Costa Rica, in which seven Central American countries participated, with a 14-0 win against Belize in the first group game, the highest win to date.
The most successful and internationally best known player is Shirley Cruz Traña .
