The seventh CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup (North American Women's Football Championship) was held in the United States from November 19 to 26, 2006 . The game was played in Carson and Miami . For the third time in a row, the USA won , defeating Canada 2-1 after extra time in the final.

The national teams of the USA and Canada were seeded for the finals and did not have to qualify. Separate qualifications were carried out in Central America and the Caribbean. Both regions received two starting places each.
The six qualified teams play for the title in a knockout system. Canada and the US have a bye to the semifinals. The finalists qualify for the 2007 Women's World Cup in the People's Republic of China . The winner of the game for third place will determine another participant in the two-way leg against Japan .
