The tenth CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup , the North American championship in women's football , was held in the USA from October 4 to 17, 2018 . The defending champions were the USA , which were automatically qualified alongside Canada and Mexico . Two out of four Central American applicants were able to qualify in a tournament that took place in Nicaragua in June 2018 , and three out of 22 Caribbean applicants were able to qualify over two rounds that were held in May and July 2018.
The tournament also served as qualification for the 2019 World Cup in France . In addition to the tournament winner, the runner-up and the third placed qualified directly for the world championship. The fourth has to play against the third placed team of the CONMEBOL qualification (Argentina) for another place in the World Cup.
The winners for the eighth time were the USA, who did not concede a goal in the tournament and won the final against Canada 2-0. In the game for third place, Jamaica beat Panama on penalties and qualified for a World Cup final for the first time.

mode
In the final round, the eight participants formed two preliminary round groups with four teams each, of which the first two qualified for the semi-finals. In the group stage, each team played against every other team in their group according to the championship mode . If two or more teams had tied, the following criteria would have decided:
- higher number of points from matches between teams with the same points;
- better goal difference from these games;
- higher number of goals scored from these games;
- better goal difference in all games;
- higher number of goals scored in all games;
- Drawing of lots.
From the semi-finals, the tournament continued in the knockout system , with the winner of a game qualifying for the final. If a game ended in a draw after the end of normal playing time, there was an extension of 15 minutes twice. If no decision was made after extra time, the winner was determined on penalties , which only happened in the game for third place.
The two finalists and the winner of the game for third place qualified directly for the World Cup, while the loser of the game for third place still has to play playoffs against the third of the 2018 South American Championship .
