mode
In the final round, the eight participants formed two preliminary round groups with four teams each, of which the first two qualified for the semi-finals. In the group stage, each team played against every other team in their group according to the championship mode . If two or more teams are tied, the following criteria are decisive:
- higher number of points from matches between teams with the same points;
- better goal difference from these games;
- higher number of goals scored from these games;
- better goal difference in all games;
- higher number of goals scored in all games;
- Drawing of lots.
From the semi-finals onwards, the tournament continued in the knockout system , with the winner of a game qualifying for the next round. If a game ended in a draw after the end of normal playing time, there was an extension of 15 minutes twice. If no decision was made after extra time, the winner was determined on penalties .
The two finalists and the winner of the game for third place qualified directly for the world championship, while the loser of the game for third place still has to play playoffs against the third of the South American Championship 2014. As a French overseas territory, Martinique is not a member of FIFA and therefore could not qualify for the World Cup. Therefore, Martinique only took part in the group stage. If Martinique had placed themselves in the top two of the group, the next-placed team would have moved up to play in the semi-finals. However, this did not happen.
