Raquel Rodríguez Cedeño (born October 28, 1993 in San José ) is a Costa Rican soccer player .

Career

society

In her homeland, Rodríguez wore the jersey of the CD Saprissa women's team . During her studies at Pennsylvania State University , she played for the Penn State Nittany Lions university team from 2012 to 2015 . After Rodríguez won the 2015 NCAA Championship with the Nittany Lions , she received the Hermann Trophy , the highest award in North American college football. On January 15, 2016, she was committed in the first round of the Sky Blue FC franchise as part of the NWSL college draft . For the 2017/18 season Rodríguez switched to the Australian first division club Perth Glory on loan .

National team

In the youth field, Rodríguez took part in the U-17 World Cup in 2008 and the U-20 World Cup in 2010 , where he played in three group matches.

In 2012, she made her debut in the Costa Rican senior team . With this, Rodríguez qualified for the first time for the 2015 World Cup . There she scored Costa Rica's first World Cup goal in the group game against Spain ( final score 1: 1 ) on June 9 and was named Player of the Game. After another draw against the selection of South Korea and a narrow 0-1 defeat against Brazil , Costa Rica was eliminated after the group stage.

Private

Rodríguez 'father Sivianni Rodríguez was also a professional football player and was active, among others, at CS Herediano .
