Chapel of St. Antonius in Tönnishäuschen
|
Tönnishäuschen ( Low German Tonnieshäuseken ) is part of the city of Ahlen and is located north of Ahlen (Westphalia).
history
When the bishop rearranged the church districts in 1193, Vorhelm was assigned the Isendorf (Tönnishäuschen), Eickel (train station) and village farmers' groups. Tönnishäuschen has belonged to Vorhelm ever since. In 1498 an Antonius chapel was first mentioned at the old intersection. In 1522 the chapel was rebuilt. In 1752, the then castle owner, Count Droste zu Vischering, had the chapel rebuilt at its current location. The St. Antonius chapel , which was also called "Tonnieshäuseken", later gave the Isendorf farmers the name Tönnishäuschen .

Associations and public life
Chapel of St. Anthony
The earliest evidence of the existence of a chapel at this location is from the end of the 15th century.
The chapel is a single-aisled brick building with a gable roof; the single bell is protected by a copper helmet in a roof turret. Parts of the baroque interior have been preserved from the construction period, for example parts of the altar and the knee benches.
Landgasthof Tönnishäuschen
There has been a village pub in Tönnishäuschen since 1544. The location of the Zwei Kreuzenden trade routes helped the bar to generate good sales back then. The listed pub has been empty since 2007.
