history

The place Dolberg was first mentioned in a document in 955 by Emperor Otto I. The royal charter bears the title Curtis Thuliberh (see Wallgärtner 1996). The first mention of the Dolberg Church comes from the year 1193. Werinher von Thuleberge, blood relative of Bishop Werinher von Münster, is considered to be the builder and thus the founder of the parish . The name Thuliberh is the original version of today's term Dolberg.

Dolberg was an independent municipality until it was incorporated into the city of Ahlen on July 1, 1969 as part of the regional reform .
