Kadeisha Buchanan (born November 5, 1995 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian national soccer player with Jamaican parents.

Career

societies

During her studies at West Virginia University , Buchanan played for the local university team of the West Virginia Mountaineers since 2013 and played for the W-League franchises of the Toronto Lady Lynx and Ottawa Fury from 2013 to 2014 . In the summer of 2016, she joined the Vaughan Azzurri, for whom she made her debut on June 26 in a 9-0 win over Darby FC. Buchanan moved to France in January 2017, where she signed a contract with Olympique Lyon until summer 2019. With Lyon, she won the UEFA Women's Champions League three times in a row , making nine appearances in the first two seasons but not appearing in 2018/19.

National team

Buchanan was part of the Canadian youth national teams in the U-15 to U-20 age groups and took part in the CONCACAF U-17 Championship in 2012 , the U-17 World Championship in 2012 and the U-20 World Championship in 2014 . On January 12, 2013, she made her debut against China in the Canadian senior team .

In May 2015, the Canadian Post issued a stamp for the 2015 World Cup in Canada, showing Buchanan and her teammate in the national team Christine Sinclair . At the end of this tournament, in which she reached the quarter-finals with the selection of the host country, Buchanan was named “Best Young Player” .

She was part of the roster for the 2016 Summer Olympics qualifier , where Canada qualified for the Olympics. She was used in all games and was chosen as one of the two best central defenders in the tournament's all-star team. On May 25, 2019, she was nominated for the 2019 Women's World Cup . At the World Cup, she scored the only goal of the game in the first game against Cameroon shortly before half-time whistle. She was also used in the other games, but retired with her team in the round of 16 against the later third Sweden . If she had made it to the quarter-finals, she would have been blocked due to the second yellow card.

On February 9, 2020, she played her 100th international match in the final of the Olympic qualification .
