Edinburgh is a city in Hidalgo County in the US state of Texas . It is the seat of the county seat of Hidalgo County. Edinburgh is near the Mexican border. The next major city is McAllen . The city is the seat of the University of Texas – Pan American .
history
In 1908 John Closner, William Briggs, and Dennis B. Chapin started a new ward. It was founded in honor of Dennis B. Chapin with the name Chapin. But when he was involved in a manslaughter, the city was renamed Edinburgh.
