Minerva G. Carcaño

Minerva G. Carcaño (born January 20, 1954 in Edinburgh , Texas ) is an American bishop of the United Methodist Church .

Life

After finishing school in Edinburgh, Texas, Carcaño studied at the University of Texas-Pan American Theology , where she graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor's degree. After that, she graduated in 1979 with a Masters in theology from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University . In the same year she was ordained a pastor and then served in various Methodist churches in Texas in the following years. From 1992 to 1996 she was an organizational pastor in the South Albuquerque Cooperative Ministry . She then became director of the Mexican American Program of Hispanic Studies at the Perkins School of Theology . In 2004 Carcaño was elected bishop in Phoenix, Arizona .

Carcaño is married and has one daughter.
