Crystal Alyssia Dunn (born July 3, 1992 in New Hyde Park , New York ) is an American football player . She won the 2019 World Cup with the United States women's national soccer team .

Career

Dunn played while studying at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the local high school team of the North Carolina Tar Heels and parallel to it in 2011 sporadically for the W-League - Franchise of Long Iceland Roughriders . In the college draft for the 2014 NWSL season , she was the first player ever to be drafted by the Washington Spirit franchise and made her debut for this on April 13 in the home game against Western New York Flash . In the 2015 season, Dunn was named NWSL's most successful goalscorer with 15 goals this season and was named MVP of the regular season, but in the play-off semi-finals they were defeated by Seattle Reign FC as in the previous year .

From January 2017 to February 2018 she played for the English first division club Chelsea LFC . For the 2018 NWSL season, Dunn returned to the United States and joined North Carolina Courage . With both Chelsea and North Carolina Courage, she won the state championship (2017, 2018 and 2019, respectively).

National team

Dunn played for the U-17, U-18 and U-20 crews of the US and took, among others at the U-17 World Cup in 2008 , the U-20 World Cup in 2010 and the U-20 World Cup in 2012 in part .

On February 13, 2013, she played in a friendly against Scotland for the first time in the senior national team of the USA and won the Algarve Cup 2013 a few weeks later . She was also nominated for the Algarve Cup 2015 , but was not used. After she was not nominated for the 2015 World Cup, she was back in the squad for two games against Haiti in September 2015 . In the first game on September 17, she scored her first international goal in stoppage time with the final score 5-0.

On February 15, 2016, as part of the qualification for the 2016 Summer Olympics , she scored five goals in an international match for the first time in the USA's first international game against Puerto Rico, which was won 10-0, which previously only six US players managed. She was used in all games and was awarded the “Golden Shoe” as the best goalscorer with a total of six goals. At the Olympic Games , she was used in the four games and scored the interim 1-1 in the 2: 2 against Colombia. Due to a defeat on penalties in the quarter-finals against Sweden , the US girls did not reach the semifinals of the Olympic Games for the first time. She was used for the first time in all 25 national team games in 2016 and scored 14 goals. In 2017, when the USA could not win any of the tournaments played, it was used in 12 of 16 games and now used in defense, it scored four goals. Things went better in 2018: the USA won both the SheBelieves Cup 2018 , the Tournament of Nations 2018 and the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup 2018 . Dunn came to 18 missions in which you get two goals.

On May 1st, she was nominated for the 2019 World Cup . The smallest player in the squad played six games as a left-back at the World Cup, in which she was on the pitch for the full length of the season. Only in the group game against Chile , when most of the regular players weren't used, she was also on the bench.

On February 7, 2020, she played her 100th international match in the semi-finals of the Olympic qualification against Mexico .
