society

Mewis began her career in 2013 with the W-League participant Pali Blues , with whom she won the championship. In the college draft for the 2015 season of NWSL , she was committed in the first round in fourth position by the Western New York Flash franchise and made her debut on April 12, 2015 against Seattle Reign FC . On May 3, she played for the first time against her sister Kristie , who played for the Boston Breakers . At the end of the regular season it was only enough for seventh place. In 2016 , however, the title was won. In the final against Washington Spirit she scored the interim 1-1. It stayed that way until the 90th minute. In the first minute of extra time their team fell behind again, but was able to equalize in the fourth minute of stoppage time. In the subsequent penalty shootout , she was one of the five missed shooters, but since only one teammate missed, her team won. From the following season, their team appeared as North Carolina Courage . After the regular season, the team took first place in the table, but then lost in the final with 0: 1 against Portland Thorns FC . In 2018 the title was won again, with a 3-0 revenge for the final defeat of the previous year. On July 30, 2018, her team won the Women's International Champions Cup, which was played for the first time, by beating Olympique Lyon 1-0 in the final , although she was not in the squad because she was taking part with the national team in the Tournament of Nations , which was held at the same time .

International

Mewis played between 2008 and 2012 for the U-17 and U-20 national teams of the USA and took part with them in the U-17 World Cup in 2008 and the U-20 World Cup in 2010 and 2012 , the latter tournament could win. In 2013 she was part of the US U-23 team that won the four-nation tournament and was used in all three games. In January 2014 she was called up for the first time in the senior squad of the United States and finally made her debut there on March 7th as part of the Algarve Cup 2014 when she came on in the game against Sweden together with her sister Kristie in the 67th minute. After a knee injury in autumn 2017, she missed the successfully completed SheBelieves Cup 2018 , but was then able to win the Tournament of Nations 2018 and the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup 2018 . The USA qualified for the 2019 World Cup by winning the Gold Cup. On May 1, 2019, it was nominated for the 2019 World Cup . Personal

Mewi's older sister Kristie (* 1991) played with her in the US U-17, U-20 and senior national teams . By working together at the U-17 World Cup in 2008 , they are the first sisters to play for the USA in a World Cup. Both played together at the 2010 U-20 World Cup . While Kristie was used in all games, Sam only had a nine-minute short appearance in a 5-0 win against Switzerland. When they played together as substitutes on March 7, 2014, they became the first sisters to play a game for the senior national team since Lorrie and Ronnie Fair in 1997. Three days later, they both started against Denmark, making two for the first time Sisters were in the starting XI. For Kristie it was the 15th and so far last international match.

Both have met in league games with their clubs seven times, with Samantha always winning and scoring three goals.
