Career

societies

Erceg moved to Espanyol Barcelona in September 2009 and made 11 appearances. After a year in New Zealand for Fencibles United , she moved to W-League Club Adelaide United in 2011 . There she rose to team captain in the 2012 season, before signing for FF USV Jena on August 24, 2013. There she is next to Ria Percival and Amber Hearn , the third New Zealander in the roster. In May 2014 Erceg extended her contract in Jena by two years and at the same time announced her imminent move to the USA, where she was on loan for the Chicago Red Stars for three months from June . On June 4, 2014, she made her debut for the Red Stars in the National Women's Soccer League against Washington Spirit over the full 90 minutes and initially returned to Jena at the end of the season after ten more games for Chicago. On December 17, 2014, she terminated her contract in Jena, which ran until June 30, 2016, and returned to the Chicago Red Stars. After a loan to the Japanese first division club AS Elfen Saitama in the second half of 2015, Erceg switched to the Western New York Flash franchise before the 2016 season . After a fourth place in the league round , she reached the playoff final with her team in which they prevailed against Washington Spirit on penalties . Due to a change of ownership, the club has been acting as North Carolina Courage since the 2017 season and was able to become champions in 2018 and 2019.

International

On November 14, 2006, a week before her 17th birthday, she played her first international match against China . Since then she has only been absent from three international matches and has not missed a game since July 14, 2012. Since June 13, 2013 she was the captain of the New Zealanders.

She took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics with the national team of her home country , where she played three times in the women's Olympic football tournament. She was also a member of New Zealand's squad for the 2011 Women's World Cup .

In 2012 she was with the New Zealand national team at the Summer Olympics in London .

In September 2013 Erceg took over as team captain at the prestigious international women's football tournament Valais Cup in Swiss Châtel-Saint-Denis part which could win with the team.

On February 13, 2014, she made her 91st international match in the 2014 Four Nations Tournament against North Korea, succeeding Hayley Bowden as New Zealand's record national player .

On October 25, 2014, she was the first New Zealander to make her 100th international match at the 2014 Oceania Women's Soccer Championship against Tonga .

She was also part of the New Zealand squad for the 2015 World Cup , but was eliminated with her team in the preliminary round. Together with Ria Percival and Ali Riley , she has played the most total number of World Cup games (9) for New Zealand . She was also nominated for the 2016 Olympic Games. She was used in the first two group games, but received the red card against Colombia in the 88th minute of the game , which would have suspended her for the last group game against France and thus for the first time since June 27, 2012 would have missed an international match. However, following a successful appeal to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, the ban was lifted. With a 3-0 defeat against France, the New Zealanders were eliminated as the worst group third after the group stage.

After the Cyprus Cup 2017 , in which she injured herself in the first group game so that she could not play in the next three games, she ended her national team career after 131 international matches for the Ferns. In February 2018 she was nominated again for two games against Scotland in March. It was then also used on March 6 in the 2-0 defeat. In May 2018, she announced her resignation again.

On November 25, 2018, she was replaced by Ria Percival as the record national player.

After talks with national coach Tom Sermanni , she announced her resignation in January 2019. She was then also nominated for the Cup of Nations . In the first group game against Australia she was then used again. She was substituted in the second half against Argentina and not used in the final group game against South Korea . In April she was used in an unofficial and official game against Norway and was nominated for the World Cup in France on April 29th . She took part in a World Cup for the fourth time, but retired with her team after the three group matches in which she was also used.
