After around six years at FF USV Jena, she moved to 1. FC Köln with Julia Arnold in June 2017 .

Hearn has been a senior international since 2004. She made her debut on February 18, 2004 in a 2-0 draw against Australia . After she was also used in the following four games in 2004 and the only game in 2005 in which the New Zealanders failed to score, an international break for Hearn followed until June 14, 2008 due to her injury and career break. Two days later she scored her first international goal with the 1-0 winner against Argentina and secured New Zealand's first win against a South American team. Hearn was then not used in only two games: in the 7-0 win against Papua New Guinea in the Olympic qualifying second leg on April 4, 2012 (five days later she played a Bundesliga game with Jena against Turbine Potsdam ) and on March 12, 2014 in the match for 11th place in the Cyprus Cup against Finland . During this time she scored two goals in seven games and three, four and 5 goals in one game, the latter on October 29, 2010 in a 14-0 win against Vanuatu .

She took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing for her home country , where she played 90 minutes in all three games. At the Oceania Championship 2010 she scored 12 goals and thus had a significant share in the championship and the qualification for the World Cup in Germany.

In 2012 she was with the New Zealand national team at the Olympic Games in London and after two 0-1 defeats against Great Britain and Brazil and a 3-1 against Cameroon, she reached the knockout round in an intercontinental tournament for the first time in which New Zealand played USA scored and lost 2-0.

She was also part of the New Zealand squad for the 2015 World Cup , but was eliminated with her team in the preliminary round and also remained without a win in the 12th World Cup game in a row. In the game against hosts Canada, which ended 0-0, she shot a penalty against the crossbar. She had previously played her 100th international match in the first group match against the Netherlands on June 7th .

In the qualifying first leg for the 2016 Olympic Games against Papua New Guinea, she scored two goals at 7-1 on January 23, 2016. Papua New Guinea then did not play for the second leg in New Zealand and New Zealand is now qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .

In March 2016, she took part in the Algarve Cup with New Zealand for the first time and reached the game for third place. Here she scored the 1-1 equalizer against Iceland. Since neither of them managed to score another goal, there was a penalty shoot-out , which New Zealand lost 5-6. The goal is counted as their 50th international goal by the New Zealand Federation and FIFA .

In July 2016, she was added to the squad for the 2016 Olympic Games.
