The Argentine national soccer team represents Argentina in international women's soccer . The national team is subordinate to the Argentine Football Association and is coached by José Carlos Borrello .

Argentina played their first unofficial games at the 2nd unofficial World Cup in Mexico in 1971. After losing to Italy in the game for 3rd place, Argentina finished fourth.

The Argentine selection has so far participated in two official world championships, but dropped out of both after the preliminary round. In 2007 they lost the opening game 0:11 against Germany, the highest defeat ever suffered at a World Cup. At the South American Championships they finished second behind Brazil in the first three appearances . It was not until 2006 that the Argentines achieved their first victory over their neighbors from Brazil and the associated win of the South American Championship. In 2010 , they only finished fourth, which meant that Argentina could not qualify for the 2011 World Cup or the 2012 Olympic Games .

In terms of sport, the Argentine selection is clearly overshadowed by the men’s selection.

Argentina is currently ranked 34th in the FIFA world rankings, the best ever being 27th in June 2008 and from September to December 2009.
