Waitakere City was an independent Territorial Authority (local authority) in the Auckland regionon the North Island of New Zealand until October 30, 2010. In 2006 Waitakere City was the fifth largest city in the country with 186,447 residents.

Amalgamation to the Auckland Council

Waitakere City was amalgamated on November 1, 2010 together with the cities of Auckland City , Manukau City and North Shore City , the districts of Papakura District , Rodney District and part of the Franklin District and the Auckland Region administrative unit to form the Auckland Council . With Auckland : large area used to be mostly Auckland meant to the next Auckland City yet Manukau City , Waitakere City and North Shore City belonged since 2010 is associated with the name Auckland to Auckland Council .

Waitakere City bordered with an area of ​​367 km² in the north on the Rodney District , in the northeast on the urban area of North Shore City and in the southeast on the city of Auckland City . Districts

The city of Waitakere City was divided into different boroughs:

  • New Lynn -Bezirk ( New Lynn Ward ) in the far south: New Lynn, Glen Eden, Kelston, Green Bay , Titirangi, Kaurilands, Waima , and Woodlands Park .
  • Henderson District ( Henderson Ward ) in the center: Henderson, Glendene , Te Atatu South , and Te Atatu Peninsula (formerly Te Atatu North ) and
  • Massey Ward ( Massey Ward ) to the north: Whenuapai , Hobsonville, West Harbor, Massey , Ranui , and Henderson North .
