Manukau City was an independent Territorial Authority (local authority) in the Auckland regionon the North Island of New Zealand until October 30, 2010. In 2006, Manukau City was the fifth largest city in the country with 328,968 inhabitants.

Amalgamation to the Auckland Council

Manukau City was amalgamated on November 1, 2010 together with the cities of Auckland City , Waitakere City and North Shore City , the districts of Papakura District , Rodney District and part of the Franklin District and the Auckland Region administrative unit to form the Auckland Council .
