Jordyn Pamela Huitema (born May 8, 2001 in Chilliwack , British Columbia ) is a Canadian national soccer player .

Life

Huitema, whose ancestors come from the Netherlands , grew up with two brothers in Chilliwack , British Columbia , where she attended Vedder Elementary School. She has been attending Burnaby Central Secondary School in Deer Lake Park in Burnaby since 2015 . Her three year older brother Trent is a hockey player in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) and six years older Brody plays soccer like her , currently on the men's soccer team at Duke University ; he was a longtime player for the Vancouver Whitecaps . She has been in a relationship with the Canadian international Alphonso Davies since May 2017 .

In the club

She started her career with Chilliwack FC at the age of four. She then played for Surrey United for two years between 2012 and 2014, before joining the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite BC Soccer REX in January 2015 . Since 2017, Huitema has been part of the senior team of the Whitecaps, which currently play in the Metro Women's Soccer League. On April 4, 2018, Huitema signed together with national team colleague Julia Gross in the Women's Premier Soccer League for TSS FC Rovers . In July 2018 it was announced that she would play for PSG Féminines . Before she signed a contract, however, she graduated from school and thus acquired the qualification for college. In July 2018 she played for Paris Saint-Germain at the International Champions Cup and played against Manchester City and North Carolina Courage . In May 2019 she received a four-year contract with PSG.

National team

After 14 games for the U-15s, in 2014 on the Cayman Islands and in 2016 at the CONCACAF Girls' U-15 Championship in the USA , eight followed at the U-17 CONCACAF Championship in Grenada and the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Jordan Internationals for the Canadian U-17 national team. At the age of 15, Huitema was nominated for the first time for the senior national team at the Algarve Cup in March 2017 .

On March 8, 2017, the striker made her senior international debut in the Canadian national team at the age of 15 and three months in the final of the 2017 Algarve Cup against the Spanish national soccer team . Around three months later, on June 11, 2017, at the age of 16, she scored her first two goals in a 6-0 win over the women's Costa Rican national soccer team .

At the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup 2018 , she helped the Canadians qualify for the 2019 World Cup with four goals that she scored in the 12-0 win against Cuba . At the end of 2018, she took part in the 2018 U-17 Women's World Cup in Uruguay . It was only not used in the third group game against eventual world champions Spain. In the quarter-finals against the German team , she scored the only goal of the game. With a total of three goals, she was one of the four third-best goalscorers in the tournament. A medal was missed by a 2-1 loss in the third-place match against New Zealand.

On May 25, 2019, she was nominated for the 2019 World Cup . With a height of 1.81 m, she was the longest player in the squad. At the World Cup she was only used in the group final against the Netherlands , which were lost 2-1. As group runner-up, the Canadians were eliminated in the round of 16 against later third Sweden .
