Hershey is a census-designated place (CDP) within the Derry Township in County Dauphin in the US state of Pennsylvania . The city with (as of: 2000) 12,771 inhabitants is located about 20 km east of Harrisburg .

history

Hershey is named after its founder Milton S. Hershey , who built a settlement for his workers next to his chocolate-making factory. The Hershey Company is still based in the town today . Hershey is therefore also called "Chocolatetown, USA".

  • The Hershey Company also operates its own theme park, Hersheypark. With over 11 roller coasters and a water park, it is one of the top attractions in the area. There is also a visitor center with Hershey's Chocolate World , in which information is provided about the company and its production processes and all products are offered for sale.
