The Welsh national women's football team represents Wales in women's international football . The national team is subordinate to the Welsh Football Association and is coached by Jayne Ludlow . The Welsh selection has not yet qualified for a major tournament.

In qualifying for the 2011 World Cup , the team met Sweden , the Czech Republic , Belgium and Azerbaijan . Wales were the only team to lose a game against Azerbaijan, which despite a win in Belgium only reached the penultimate group place.

In qualifying for the EM 2013 , the team met France , Scotland , Ireland and Israel . With three wins, one draw and four defeats, the third place in the group was achieved and the playoffs of the runners-up were missed.

In the FIFA rankings, Wales was able to work its way up to 37th place in August 2012 after a temporary low to 57th place in May 2006 thanks to three victories in the European Championship qualification and further to 36th place thanks to victories in the 2013 World Cup qualifiers improve in December 2013.
