Kelly Rutherford (* 6. November 1968 in Elizabethtown , Kentucky ) is an American actress .

life and career

Rutherford's film career began in the late 1980s when she appeared in television productions such as Homefront , The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. and No Greater Love became known to a wider audience in the United States. Hollywood productions such as Scream 3 , I Love Trouble (with Julia Roberts , Nick Nolte ) and Swimming Upstream followed , as well as numerous roles in US television series and short films , such as Megan Mancini in the television series Melrose Place . She also played in series such as Generations and Threat Matrix . She was seen on television with Benjamin Bratt and Dennis Hopper in the Jerry Bruckheimer production E-Ring . From 2007 to 2012 she played the role of Lily van der Woodsen in the series Gossip Girl .

In his private life, Rutherford is involved in the Step Up Women Network , an association whose goal is to create better conditions and opportunities for women in society and thus to provide better prospects for the future. A number of successful US women volunteer for women's rights in this network.

Rutherford was married to Carlos Tarajano from 2001 to 2002. She was married to her second husband, the German entrepreneur Daniel Giersch, from 2006 to 2010 and has two children with him. In 2014, the press reported that after he was granted custody of the children, she abducted her children to New Jersey state . She wants to prevent her children from returning to their father in France . A Californian court had ruled that the children were allowed to live with their father in France and to visit Rutherford during the holidays. At the same time, she filed a lawsuit in the federal appeals court in New York State . She considers the court decision to be an illegal deportation.
