Embraced - Clan der Vampire (also: Kindred - Clan der Vampire or Clan der Vampire ) is an eight-part television series based on the pen & paper role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade .
action
The series is set in San Francisco . Undetected vampires live among the people of the city and are organized in different clans. They call themselves blood relatives. An ancient set of rules, the “masquerade”, prevents mortal discovery. The Ventura "Prince" Julien Luna is in charge of the tour. He rules the vampires and maintains the masquerade. A council of clans, consisting of the leaders of the Gangrel, Toreador, Brujah and Nosferatu, as well as his predecessor Archon Raine, are at his side. The prince is partially in conflict with the other clan leaders who are trying to deny him his claim to leadership, first and foremost the Brujah, who have committed themselves to the criminal life. He also falls in love with a mortal reporter. A detective gets behind the masquerade through a vampire lover and tries to uphold the law in town.

background
Aaron Spelling, successful producer with Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place, tried his hand at "Clan of Vampires" on a vampire series with a significant amount of soap opera . The material is part of the horror genre, but in addition to the action elements, the protagonists' relationship level also plays a major role. After filming was finished, Mark Frankel died in a serious motorcycle accident. It was therefore decided to discontinue the moderately successful series.
In Germany, RTL II secured the broadcasting rights and broadcast the pilot on January 7, 1997 at 11 p.m. An episode was then broadcast weekly. It was broadcast for a second time on December 12, 2001.
The series is based on the pen and paper role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade , but has been partially adapted for television. The changes include, for example, that the vampires in the series can move around during the day if they have drunk enough blood. In the German synchronization the clan of Julien Luna was changed from Ventrue to Ventura. In addition, not all clans of the template are represented by a long way.
