Christopher Thomas Howell (born December 7, 1966 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor and film director .

life and career

In his childhood the son of the stuntman Christopher Howell first attracted attention as a rodeo rider and won several junior tournaments. He appeared as an actor in the early 1980s and played roles in the hit movies ET and The Outsider . These appearances made him a teen star and a member of the Brat Pack .

As an adult, he now appears mainly in guest roles in television series such as Emergency Room and is co-owner of the production company Buckwheat Films .

Howell is also active as a director, he made his debut in 1995 with the film Im Netz der Verführung (Original title: Hourglass ). He also wrote a script for the first time. The following year he directed the action films The Big Fall and Pure Danger - Vanishing Point LA. In 2008, War of the Worlds 2 - The Next Wave of Attacks, was his fourth film as a director. He then staged The Day the Earth Stood Still 2 - Attack of the Robots , and in 2009 he shot The Land That Time Forgot . Howell also played the leading role in all of these productions. Most recently, he was involved as a director on The Genesis Code (2010).

Since 2009 he played the officer Billy "Dewey" Dudek in the police series Southland . In the first four seasons he worked in 17 episodes recurring as a supporting actor until 2012, in the fifth and final season Howell was part of the main cast of the series.

His work as an actor includes around 200 film and television productions.

Personal

C. Thomas Howell was married to actress Rae Dawn Chong , whom he met on the set of the film Soul Man , from 1989 to 2002 , and has been married to Sylvie Anderson since 2002. The two have three children.
