Fellows - On life and death is an American thriller from Stephen Eckelberry from the year 1998 .

action

In the first scene, the police find the body of a man near a warehouse. Barry stands on the roof and watches.

Quinn and Laura are having a party in the garden of their house. Guests include Barry, the new employee at the company where Quinn is the CEO. The widow Jude was married to the recently kidnapped and murdered company owner Max. In addition, the doctor Evan and his wife Monica were invited. Jude, a lecturer at a university, taught some of the guests as students and has been friends with them for years.

The neighbor complains about the smoke from the grill, he is insulted. Quinn says similar complaints are common. A little later a tow truck arrives to tow Laura's car in the garage entrance of one of the neighboring houses. Laura is sure she parked the car elsewhere. She can no longer find the registration papers stored in the glove compartment. She also remembers being pestered by anonymous calls every night.

Barry freaks out and beats up the tow company employee. Jude, who suggested his invitation, expresses doubts. Barry goes to the house of the complaining neighbor, whom he seriously injured. He accuses the man of nightly harassment and theft of the vehicle documents. Evan tries to call an ambulance and the police, but Quinn hesitates. Barry implies that Quinn may have been involved in the kidnapping of his boss and demands a share of the ransom.

A flashback shows that Max wanted to fire Quinn.

Arguments break out during which Barry, Quinn, and Laura are shot; Evan and Monica are injured. A flashback shows Quinn and Laura as kidnappers. Another flashback shows that Jude called Laura at night. Her voice-over says she suggested Barry's invitation because she hoped the situation would escalate and her husband's death would be avenged.

Jude takes the injured Evan and Monica to the hospital. On the way, she throws Laura's vehicle registration away through the window.

Reviews

Buzz McClain wrote in "All Movie Guide" that the film contains elements of a mystery film, an erotic drama and a black comedy. The representations are weaker in the last third than before; the character played by Jack Scalia brings tension. The plot is "coherent".

"TV direkt" criticized the script and the production as "sloppy".

Remarks

The film was screened on October 7, 1999 at the Austin Film Festival .
