The Denver Clan (original title: Dynasty ) is an American television series that has been produced by CBS Television Studios for the US broadcaster The CW since 2017 . It forms a reboot of the soap opera The Denver Clan , which ran with great success on ABC in the 1980s .
The third season started on October 11, 2019 on The CW . On January 7, 2020, the series was extended for a fourth season.
action
Fallon Carrington is unhappy that her father Blake wants to marry his co-worker Cristal, but what is worse for her is that Cristal will also become the new COO as an engagement present, the job Fallon has worked towards all her life. All of her attempts to destroy the relationship between the two fail. Because of this, Fallon allies himself with Blake's archenemy Jeff Colby. This leads to further tension between the women. When Cristal's nephew Sam turns up, the situation becomes even more complicated because Sam knows some spicy details from Cristal's past.
production
In September 2016, it became known that The CW was working on a reboot of the 1980s television series The Denver Clan . The reboot was developed by Josh Schwartz , Stephanie Savage and Sallie Patrick . The producers met Richard and Esther Shapiro, the producers of the original series.
The leading roles went to Nathalie Kelley (Cristal Flores Carrington), Elizabeth Gillies (Fallon Carrington) and Grant Show (Blake Carrington). Other leading roles were cast with Alan Dale and James Mackay . Rafael de la Fuente was cast as Sam "Sammy Jo" Jones, a homosexual version of Heather Locklear's character from the original series.
The pilot episode was filmed in Atlanta . On May 10, 2017, the broadcaster commissioned the first season. The first trailer was released a few days later. On November 8, 2017, The CW ordered nine more episodes, so that the first season comes to 22 episodes.
In November 2017 Nicollette Sheridan was cast in the role of Alexis Carrington, Blake's ex-wife. This role was played in the original series by Joan Collins . After the season one finale, Sheridan was promoted to lead actress for season two. At the end of June 2018, it was announced that Nathalie Kelley will not return for the second season. Your role will be taken over by Ana Brenda Contreras , who will play the "real" Cristal Flores . Maddison Brown has also been awarded another lead role , who will play the role of Kirby Anders . In late July 2019, it was announced that Daniella would replace Alonso Contreras as Cristal Jennings in season three.
After Nicollette Sheridan left the series after the 15th episode of the second season for personal reasons, the role was first played by Elizabeth Gillies , who thus embodied both mother and daughter within the series. In October 2019, it was finally confirmed that Elaine Hendrix would take on the role of Alexis and join the main cast during the course of the third season.
The original episode titles are lines of dialogue from the original series. In addition to revamped characters and storylines, the remake features several visual tributes to the 1980s, including props and wardrobe. Although the series is no longer set in Denver , but in Atlanta, the series received the series title of the original series in Germany.
