William E. "Bill" Conti (born April 13, 1942 in Providence , Rhode Island ) is an American film composer . His most famous composition is the title theme of the Rocky film series.

biography

The Italian-American Bill Conti was born to Lucetta and William Conti. His musical career began at the age of 15 as a conductor in a local orchestra. In the 1960s he first worked as a film music composer in Italy for films such as A Candidate For A Killing . With the fantastic jazzy soundtrack to the Italo-Movie Juliette de Sade (Mademoiselle De Sade) from 1968, he joins the honorable league of the 60s / 70s Italo jazz and film composers such as Piero Umiliani ( Lady Magnolia , Today's Sound ) , Alberto Baldan Bembo ( The Smart Set ), or Piero Piccioni ( Camille 2000, the music for a modern literary film adaptation of the Alexandre Dumas novel), which later became known to a wide audience thanks to the iconic Easy Tempo sampler.
