Jimmy Reardon (Alternative title: Jimmy Reardon - Sweet Dreams in College ; Original Title: A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon ) is an American drama from 1988 . Directed by William Richert , who based the script based on his own novel Aren't You Even Gonna Kiss Me Goodbye? wrote from 1963.
action
The action takes place in Chicago in the 1960s . 17 year old Jimmy Reardon lives in a preferred residential area in the suburbs. He rejects the lifestyle of his father, an accountant. His girlfriend Lisa Bentwright, who comes from a wealthy family, is said to be studying in Hawaii .
Reardon is about to graduate from high school - and has to decide between his father’s former college, studying with Bentwright and starting a career straight away.

The film was cut by Island Pictures against the will of the director and the voice-over by William Richert was replaced by a voice-over by River Phoenix. Richert released his original version of the film in 2008 under the title Aren't You Even Gonna Kiss Me Goodbye? .
The film grossed approximately $ 6.26 million in US cinemas .
Reviews
Janet Maslin wrote in the New York Times on February 27, 1988 that the film was " hardly the first film about the sexual exploits of an adolescent youth ". However, it is a work by the director William Richert, who previously shot the " masterpiece " Winter Kills - and therefore anything but the " usual commodity ". The quality of the presentations varies greatly. River Phoenix and Meredith Salenger would have problems reproducing their lines of dialogue credibly. Ione Skye seems " extremely bored ". Ann Magnuson does " fabulous " work.
The London magazine Time Out wrote that the film had the charm of " pink " memories and was often very funny. However, he is slow and seems longer than he is. The sex scenes wouldn't look convincing.

Meredith Salenger was nominated for the Young Artist Award in 1989.
