Johnny Galecki
John "Johnny" Mark Galecki (born April 30, 1975 in Bree , Belgium ) is an American actor . He became known through the roles of David Healy in the US sitcom Roseanne and Dr. Leonard Hofstadter in The Big Bang Theory .
Life
Galecki was born in Bree , Belgium . His late father Richard Galecki served in Belgium as a soldier in the United States Air Force and was of Polish origin. His mother, Mary Lou (nee Noon), was a mortgage advisor and is of Irish and Italian descent. Johnny Galecki has a younger brother, Nick, and a younger sister, Allison. When Johnny Galecki was three years old, his parents moved to Chicago . From the age of seven he appeared in a number of plays at Chicago's Goodman Theater . Brian Dennehy was one of his fellow actors at the time .
In the comedy Schöne Bescherung (1989) Galecki played the role of Russell Griswold , the son of Clark Griswold ( Chevy Chase ) and Ellen Griswold ( Beverly D'Angelo ). For the role in the television series Man of Dreams (1990), he was nominated for the Young Artist Award in 1992 .
Galecki appeared in the television series Roseanne as David Healy from 1992 to 1997 . For this role he won the Young Artist Award in 1994. In 1993 and 1995 he was nominated for the same award. In the comedy The Opposite of Sex (1998) he appeared on the side of Christina Ricci . In the comedy Bookies (2003) he played one of the bigger roles alongside Nick Stahl , Lukas Haas and Rachael Leigh Cook .
In the eighth season of the television series Entourage , he made several short guest appearances. There he plays a fictionalized version of himself. Between 2007 and 2019 he was a physicist Dr. Leonard Hofstadter in the CBS - sitcom The Big Bang Theory see. He was nominated for an Emmy in 2011 for his role, but was defeated by his colleague Jim Parsons . Due to his success as a performer in The Big Bang Theory , Galecki received offers for cinema productions again. In 2008 he was seen alongside Will Smith in Hancock and in 2011 with Olivia Wilde , Amanda Seyfried and Justin Timberlake in In Time - Your time is running out . In March 2017, it was announced that Galecki will host and produce the TV show SciJinks , in which scientists will use their knowledge to perform stunts and pranks with hidden cameras. It was first broadcast in May 2018.
Galecki is a vegetarian . In the 1990s he was dating his series partner Sara Gilbert . With his series partner from The Big Bang Theory , Kaley Cuoco , he had a relationship that lasted from 2007 to the end of 2009 and that they kept secret from the public. The separation took place on a friendly basis. From the beginning of 2012 to mid-2014 he was in a relationship with the actress Kelli Garner .
