Olivia Wilde
Olivia Wilde (* 10. March 1984 in New York City as Olivia Jane Cockburn ) is an American actress , director and film producer .
Life
Wilde is the daughter of journalist Andrew Cockburn and producer Leslie Cockburn. After attending Phillips Academy in Andover , Massachusetts , she studied acting at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin . Many of her relatives, such as her grandfather Francis Claud Cockburn , her father and her two paternal uncles, Alexander and Patrick Cockburn, are journalists.
She chose her stage name in reference to Oscar Wilde, who she admired .
Acting career
Their first success had Wilde Kellie in the US teen - comedy The Girl Next Door . She then got a leading role as Jewel Goldman in the US series Skin , which was discontinued in 2003 after only three episodes. With the role of Alex Kelly she made her breakthrough in the second season of the series OC, California .
In 2007 Wilde had one of the leading roles as Jenny Reilly in the 13 episode series The Black Donnellys . From 2007 she achieved widespread fame as Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley in the hit series Dr. House . In 2010 she had a role as Quorra in the movie Tron: Legacy . Next followed in 2011 the female lead in science fiction - Western Cowboys & Aliens alongside Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford . That same year, Wilde was seen in a supporting role as Rachel Salas , mother of Will Salas , played by Justin Timberlake , in the science fiction thriller In Time by director Andrew Niccol . Further film and television appearances followed.
Her directorial debut came out in 2019 with Booksmart . In late June 2020, Wilde became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
Others
In addition to her acting career, Wilde is a member of the Los Angeles Filmmaker's Cooperative (LAFCO) . Among other things, she is the managing editor of LAFCO NEWS and was the project manager of the LAFCO production for the Lysistrata project , the first worldwide theater event for peace that took place in hundreds of cities around the world.
In 2008 Wilde supported Barack Obama's presidential candidacy together with her fellow actor Kal Penn .
In October 2009, Wilde was the face of the advertising campaign for Escada's fragrance Desire me in commercials and on posters . In October 2010 the artist Shepard Fairey painted her as Miss Liberty for a poster for the American Civil Liberties Union . Wilde is a vegan and was voted the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity in a poll initiated by PETA in 2010 . She was also seen in the music video City of Angels by the band 30 Seconds to Mars, which was released in 2013, alongside fellow actors such as James Franco and Juliette Lewis .
Personal
Wilde was married to the Italian filmmaker and photographer Tao Ruspoli from 2003 to 2011. Wilde met Ruspoli, who was ten years his senior, at the age of 18 and only found out after the wedding that he belonged to the Italian nobility . The separation was amicable. Since early 2013, Wilde has been engaged to actor Jason Sudeikis , with whom she has been dating since late 2011. In April 2014 their first offspring was born, a son, and in October 2016 their second child, a girl.
