Andrew Niccol
Andrew Niccol (born June 10, 1964 in Paraparaumu ) is a New Zealand screenwriter , director and producer .
Life
Niccol was born in Paraparaumu , New Zealand and grew up in Auckland . He left New Zealand at the age of 21 to work as a commercial film maker in London . Since the 1990s he has also worked as a film director in Hollywood . He was best known for his contributions to the science fiction genre. His films take a more pessimistic view of the future, such as Gattaca , The Truman Show and In Time . He was nominated for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for the screenplay of The Truman Show , and was awarded Screenwriter of the Year by the London Critics' Circle for the scripts for Gattaca and Truman Show .
Niccol has been married to the model and the leading actress of his film S1m0ne , Rachel Roberts , since 2002 . The couple have two children.
