Sara Gilbert
Sara Gilbert (* 29. January 1975 in Santa Monica , California as Sara Rebecca Abeles ) is an American actress . She is best known for her roles as Darlene in the American sitcom Roseanne and Leslie Winkle in The Big Bang Theory .
Career
Sara's older adoptive half-sister, Melissa Gilbert , is also an actress. Melissa's role in the television series Our Little Farm influenced Sara's career choice. At the age of thirteen she got the role of Darlene Conner in the television series Roseanne , which she plays until 1997 and again since 2018. For this role she was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1993 and 1994 . In 1990 she was nominated for the Young Artist Award , in 1991, 1992 and 1993 she won this award. In 1997 she graduated from Yale University with a degree in fine art photography with honors.
Gilbert starred in the thriller Poison Ivy (1992) alongside Drew Barrymore one of the leading roles, for which she was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award . In the comedy Desert Blue (1998) she starred alongside Kate Hudson and Christina Ricci in the film Riding in Cars with Boys (2001) again opposite Drew Barrymore. From 2005 to 2006, she starred alongside Melanie Griffith in a leading role in the television series Twins . From 2007 to 2010 she starred in the series The Big Bang Theory as Dr. Leslie Winkle with. There she was initially only listed as a supporting role, then promoted to lead actress in the second season, which was reversed shortly afterwards so that Gilbert could concentrate more on her position as executive producer on the CBS talk show The Talk .
Sara Gilbert and her former partner, the producer and author Allison Adler , with whom she was in a relationship from 2002, have a son born by Adler (* 2004) and a daughter born by Gilbert (* 2007). The couple separated in 2011. As of March 30, 2014, she was married to songwriter and singer Linda Perry . Gilbert gave birth to a boy in February 2015. In December 2019, she filed for divorce from Perry.
