The Comeback is an American comedy series broadcast by HBO . The idea for the series came from the well-known actress Lisa Kudrow from the TV series Friends and the producer Michael Patrick King , who became famous through Sex and the City . The series was first broadcast in 2005, but canceled after a season. In April 2014, HBO revived the series and ordered a second season, which aired in November and December 2014. The German-language first broadcast has been broadcast by the pay-TV channel Sky Atlantic HD since June 24, 2015.
action
Valerie Cherish is a former sitcom actress. She owes her fame to her role in this sitcom. Although she was initially only planned as a supporting role, she was later promoted to the main cast, but was always the outsider among her colleagues. After her sitcom was canceled a few years ago, she is now trying to get a new role. However, this is made more difficult by the fact that she is now seen in business as old and is also always associated with her old series role. In order to get a new role, the broadcaster Valerie stipulates that a reality show be produced about her. As a result, she is now accompanied by two camera teams.
occupation
The synchronization of the series was created at Hermes Synchron based on a dialogue book by Änne Troester under the dialogue direction by Cornelia Meinhardt .

Production and broadcast
The series started on June 5, 2005, following an episode of Entourage . The 13 episodes of the first season were broadcast from June 5 to September 4, 2005. In the same month, HBO announced the cancellation of the series due to low ratings.
After the series received a great deal of critical acclaim in the following years and was even voted one of the 10 Best TV Shows of the Decade by Entertainment Weekly magazine in 2009 , HBO released a second season of eight episodes around five years later, in April 2014 in order. In early June 2014 it was announced that actors Kellan Lutz and Malin Åkerman will also be involved in the new season of the series. The participation of the two was uncertain for a long time, as Lutz had achieved worldwide fame through the Twilight - Bis (s) zum Morgengrauen films and Åkermann became an internationally sought-after actress through the film Watchmen . In the end, Åkermann appeared in the first and last episodes of the second season, Lutz only also in the last episode of the second season.
The second season was broadcast from November 9th to December 28th, 2014 along with the final season of The Newsroom and the Getting On series .
First, in April 2015, Kudrow announced in an interview that HBO had ordered a third season of the series, in which Kudrow and King were given a free hand over the production by the broadcaster, including the duration of the planning. As of January 2018, however, this statement has been changed so that there are currently no plans on the part of HBO for a third season of the series.
reception
The first season of the series received a Metascore of 58/100 on Metacritic based on 25 reviews.
