action
Meredith Davis is a spoiled, self-centered, and greedy wife who finds out that her husband is divorcing her. Without a penny in hand, she has to move in with her friend and her daughter Lily. Together with Lily, she plans to fish at their high school and marry a rich, single father. With a fake résumé, Meredith applied to Richard Nixon Middle and got a job. There she meets her old school friend Joel Kotsky, who works as a sports teacher at the school. Meredith befriends the shy social worker Irene. Ginny Taylor-Clapp, an overzealous teacher, distrusts Meredith and wants to denigrate her to the headmaster Carl Gaines by all means. Despite being a terrible teacher, Meredith teaches Lily and her schoolmates lessons for life.
production
After the great success of the film Bad Teacher with Cameron Diaz , Jason Segel , Lucy Punch and Justin Timberlake , the US television station CBS announced in autumn 2012 that it was working on a conversion of the film for a television series. In January 2013, a series pilot was commissioned as a single-camera comedy. Film writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg served as executive producers and was produced by Sony Pictures Television and Mosaic. Writer and producer Hilary Winston wrote the script and became the showrunner on the series. The central role of Meredith Davis was filled with Ari Graynor . Other roles went to Sara Gilbert , Ryan Hansen , David Alan Grier and Kristin Davis .
On May 24, 2013, CBS gave the green light to produce the series. The first season consists of 13 episodes. All roles are based on characters from the film of the same name. In May 2014, CBS announced the cancellation of the series after only one season.
