Jason Segel
Jason Jordan Segel (born January 18, 1980 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor and screenwriter. He was best known for the role of Marshall Eriksen in the US sitcom How I Met Your Mother .
family
Segel was born in Los Angeles, California, to a lawyer and a housewife. He grew up in Pacific Palisades and was brought up in his father's Jewish faith; nevertheless he attended a Christian school. Today he is a member of the Christian Universal Life Church .
From mid-2012 to February 2013 he was in a relationship with actress Michelle Williams . Soon after the breakup, Segel publicly admitted that he had a drinking problem , which he now wanted to combat.
Career
From 1999 to 2000, Segel had his breakthrough in the Fox television series Voll beside it, full in life , in which he played the pot-smoking Nick Andopolis . In 2001 and 2002 he played in seven of 17 episodes in the series American Campus - Ready for Uni? with, while he played the ex-boyfriend of Lizzie Exley , Eric . From 2005 to 2014 he played the role of lawyer Marshall Eriksen in the US sitcom How I Met Your Mother on the CBS television channel ; the role in the hugely successful series made him known internationally. He also wrote the script for Never Again Sex With Your Ex and the blockbuster men's trip . For the films The Muppets and Almost Married , Segel wrote the script and played the male lead. The song he sang Man or Muppet won an Oscar .
For one of the few serious roles, his lead role in The End of the Tour , he received several film awards .
Since 2020 he has starred in the series Dispatches from Elsewhere , which he developed , in which he also directed an episode.
In 2014, Segel published his first children's book, Nightmares , together with his co-author Kirsten Miller , which is based on a script he wrote when he was 21. It's titled Nightmares! - The horrors of the night appeared in German translation. Segel recorded Nightmares in English as an audio book .
