Real estate agent Peter Klaven just got engaged to Zooey Rice. She calls her closest friends, but Peter doesn't seem to have anyone to celebrate the engagement with. At Peter's parents' house, it turns out that he is a "girlfriend type" who left his friends by the wayside. After listening to Zooey's friends that they are concerned that Peter has no friends, he realizes that he needs male friends in order for him to have a best man for the wedding. Peter seeks advice from his gay and younger brother Robbie on how to make platonic friends.

Ultimately, he met Sydney Fife during a tour of the house, which was supposed to sell Lou Ferrigno's house. Both become friends. He would be ready to be the best man. Peter has difficulties selling the house, which is why Ferrigno wants to change agents. Sydney asks Peter for $ 8,000. With these he buys advertising space, which leads to a dispute between the two. There is also a brief argument between Peter and Zooey. It then emerges that the advertising space persuaded Ferrigno not to withdraw the contract from Peter. He also finds a buyer. Before the wedding, Zooey calls Sydney and asks him to appear at the wedding, which he does. At the end of the film, the wedding ceremony is shown, at which Lou Ferrigno is also present.

production

Larry Levin wrote the script eleven years before filming began. After John Hamburg received the script, he rewrote it in the version that was then used for the film.

The film was originally announced in December 2007, so production should begin in March 2008. In March 2008, Variety revealed that producer Ivan Reitman's production company will officially start production in the last week of March 2008.

criticism

"The story, spiced up with lots of slippery jokes, shows women what makes men tick."

“A women's film about two straight men who think they're nice. Sounds simple, and it is. Simple and messy. Man's film with a woman's theme: so nice, so harmless. "

“'Groomsman wanted!' is a sympathetic comedy with a built-in laughing guarantee, [...] "

- filmstarts.de

"The romantic television comedy accompanies its main character through an amusingly staged course full of faux pas and at the edge reflects male role models."
