John Hamburg (2010)

John Hamburg (* 26. May 1970 in New York as John Liman Hamburg ) is an American director , producer and screenwriter .

Life

John Hamburg was born in New York City. He is the son of New York radio announcer Joan Hamburg and the cousin of director and producer Doug Liman . Hamburg attended Brown University until 1992 and graduated in history. He then went to the private film school Tisch School of the Arts , which is one of the fifteen schools of NYU .

He has been married to actress Christina Kirk since September 24, 2005 .

Career

In 1996 Hamburg completed its short film Tick and presented it at the Sundance Film Festival . He then wrote the screenplay for the comedy The Safe Specialists and directed it, with actors Steve Zahn and Sam Rockwell in front of the camera. Hamburg itself can be seen in one scene as Philip. He worked on the script for the comedy My Bride, Her Father and I , with Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in the lead roles. This was how Ben Stiller became aware of him and hired him to work on the script for the film Zoolander . In the same year he directed three episodes of the television series American Campus . In Danny DeVito's The Schreck Apartment , with Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore in the leading roles, he was seen in a sequence as Mister Friedman. This was followed by a guest appearance on the television series Reel Comedy .

He had his breakthrough as a director in 2004 when he worked again with Ben Stiller with the film ... and then Polly came along , where he also wrote the script. In the same year he is working on the script for the sequel Meet the Fockers with. A year later he worked for two episodes of the television series Stella Short .

In 2005 he worked as a director for two episodes of the US television station Comedy Central , for the series Stella . After that he only worked again in 2008 as a director, screenwriter and producer for three episodes of the series Welcome to the Captain for the television channel CBS Paramount Network Television . In the 2009 film Groomsman Wanted! John Hamburg directed, wrote the script and was also involved as a producer.

After that, the participation followed the script of the third part of Meet the Fockers , Little Fockers . The film was released in German cinemas on December 23, 2010 with Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand in the leading roles. His next movie of his own was Why Him? (2016). Before that, he appeared occasionally for television as a writer and director.
