Lawrence Sher

Lawrence Sher (born February 4, 1970 in Teaneck , New Jersey ) is an American cameraman .

Life

Lawrence grew up as the son of Jewish parents in Teaneck, New Jersey. His father was a doctor, his mother a teacher at a school for deaf people. He attended high school in Teaneck and completed a degree in economics from Wesleyan University in Connecticut , which he graduated in 1992. He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue his passion for camera work. He initially worked in the advertising film sector before moving into feature films.

Sher has appeared as an independent cameraman for film and television since the mid-1990s. His oeuvre includes around 40 productions, most of which are comedies.

He has worked with director Todd Phillips for many years since 2009 . Sher was involved in his Hangover trilogy and also took over the camera work for Joker , which appeared in 2019. This work earned him the award of the Golden Frog on the Camerimage in 2019 ; a. One British Academy Film Award and one Oscar nomination.

In 2017 he gave the comedy Who is Daddy? his directorial debut.
