Kristin Landen Davis (born February 23, 1965 in Boulder , Colorado ) is an American actress and film producer who became famous for her role as Charlotte York in the television series Sex and the City .

life and career

Kristin Davis was born in Boulder, Colorado, the only child of Dorothy and Tom Atkinson. Her parents divorced shortly after she was born, and she was adopted by her mother's second husband, Keith Davis, in 1968. The family soon moved to Columbia , South Carolina , where Kristin Davis graduated from AC Flora High School in 1983. She then studied acting at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Jersey , which she graduated in 1987.

After Davis played the role of Brooke Armstrong in the US television series Melrose Place , she was also seen in other series such as Seinfeld and Friends . In 1998 she had her breakthrough with the role of Charlotte York Goldenblatt in the series Sex and the City . Between 2001 and 2005 she was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Comedy Series for Sex and the City together with Kim Cattrall , Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon . In 2002 and 2004 she received this award. In 2002 she was nominated for Emmy (Best Supporting Actress - Comedy Series) and Golden Globe (Best Supporting Actress - Series, Miniseries or Television Film) for her role as Charlotte York.

Davis made her movie debut with a leading role in Doom Asylum (1987). She had other leading roles in the films Road Trip to Hell (2000), The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D (2005), Shaggy Dog - Hear Who Barks (2006) and Blinding Christmas (2006) alongside Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito .

Davis was voted the most beautiful woman in the world by readers of Eve magazine in 2006.

Kristin Davis is an ambassador for the development aid organization Oxfam , with whom she traveled to South Africa in 2005 and to Dadaab in Kenya in 2011 . In 2010 she received the Wyler Award for her commitment.

In 1999 Davis received the Lucy Award ( Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards ).

Davis adopted a girl on October 7, 2011. She currently lives in Los Angeles .
