Amanda Michelle Seyfried [ ˈsaɪfrɛd ] (born December 3, 1985 in Allentown , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress and singer .

Life

Amanda Seyfried was born to Ann, an occupational therapist , and Jack Seyfried, a pharmacist . She comes from a family with mostly German roots and has an older sister named Jennifer. In 2003 she graduated from high school in Allentown, her hometown. She began her career as a child model at the age of eleven, and only later did she start her acting career as an actress in soap operas , including As the World Turns and All My Children . In the meantime she studied at Fordham University in New York . Seyfried made her breakthrough as a film actress in 2004 as one of the leading actresses in the teen comedy Girls Club - be careful! .

In the UPN - television series Veronica Mars Seyfried played the role of Lilly Kane . In the movie Alpha Dog - Deadly Friendships , she was first seen in 2006 on the side of Justin Timberlake . As Sarah Henrickson , she played a leading role in the HBO series Big Love until 2011 , alongside her former Veronica Mars colleagues Tina Majorino and Kyle Gallner . One of her most famous film roles is Sophie in the musical film Mamma Mia! , in which she can be seen alongside movie stars such as Meryl Streep , Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth . In 2012 she played alongside Anne Hathaway , Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe in the film adaptation Les Misérables of the musical of the same name . She also starred in the film adaptation of the biography Lovelace, about the life of American porn actress Linda Lovelace . She can also be seen as lawyer Samantha Leslie Jackson in the 2015 film Ted 2 .

Between 2008 and 2010, Seyfried and Dominic Cooper were a couple. From 2013 to 2015 she was in a relationship with Justin Long . In March 2017 she married the actor Thomas Sadoski. In the same month the couple had a daughter together.

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.
