The Big Wedding ( German  The big wedding ) is an American film comedy from Justin Zackham from the year 2013 with Robert De Niro , Diane Keaton and Susan Sarandon in the supporting roles.

The film is about a young man (Alejandro) who is in the middle of the wedding preparations with his girlfriend Melissa. He was adopted as a child and now, after he has already spent his holidays with her several times, wants his birth mother (a very devout, Roman Catholic Colombian woman ) with him at his wedding. On the wedding day, he wants to introduce her and his divorced adoptive parents to each other. They are supposed to simulate an old married couple for them, even though the father already has a new partner. Some secrets will be revealed on the wedding day. Alejandro learns that his birth father was not a farmer but the mayor's assistant, the groom's father marries his partner and the groom's mother realizes that friendship is more important than rivalry.
