Katherine Marie Heigl (born November 24, 1978 in Washington, DC ) is an American actress and film producer . Among other things, she is an Emmy- Prize winner and achieved mainly through the role of Izzie Stevens in the series Grey's Anatomy (2005-2010) and through the films The First Time (2007), 27 Dresses (2008) and The Naked Truth (2009) great notoriety.

life and career

Katherine Heigl, who has German and Irish ancestry, is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("Mormons") and described herself as devout. She is the daughter of the HR manager Nancy (née Engelhardt) and the chief financial employee and accountant Paul Heigl and the youngest of four children. Heigl became known to a larger audience through the role of Isobel Catherine "Izzie" Stevens in the television series Grey's Anatomy , which she played from 2005 to 2010. She was honored for this role at the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2007 for best supporting actress in a drama series, and was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 2007 and 2008 . In spring and summer 2009 there was speculation about her possible exit after season 5. In March 2010, Heigl's departure was officially announced. In 2010 she starred alongside Ashton Kutcher in the action comedy Kiss & Kill , which was a flop in the cinema . In the same year she played the lead role in the film Life Plays . She starred in the short-lived NBC series State of Affairs in 2014 and 2015 . The series Doubt , with Heigl in the lead role, was canceled in 2017 after two broadcast episodes. She has been in suits since 2018 .

According to Vanity Fair, Heigl earned 24 million US dollars from two movies in 2009, making him one of the highest-paid female Hollywood stars. She has been married to singer Josh Kelley since December 23, 2007 . In September 2009, the couple adopted a girl from Korea . In April 2012 it was announced that Heigl and Kelley had adopted another child. She gave birth to a son on December 20, 2016.
