occupation

Zyzzyx Road is an American Independent - thriller from the year 2006 . The main roles are Leo Grillo , Katherine Heigl and Tom Sizemore . The film is one of the biggest box office losers because it grossed just $ 30, which is just 0.0015% of its $ 2 million production cost.

action

Grant ( Leo Grillo ) is an accountant with a poorly functioning marriage. He is on a business trip in Las Vegas, where he meets the seductive Marissa ( Katherine Heigl ). You are having a love affair. When Marissa's ex-boyfriend Joey ( Tom Sizemore ) shows up, events roll over: Joey tries to murder Grant, but is then killed by him and buried in the desert near Zyzzyx Road . The next morning his body has disappeared and someone / something tries to kill the couple.

production

The film was shot within 18 days in the summer of 2005. In two more weeks, additional scenes were recorded for the 106-minute film, which was shot entirely in the Mojave Desert . Tom Sizemore and his friend Peter Walton, who worked as Sizemore's assistant, were arrested while filming for positive drug tests. Walton was also convicted of trafficking in child pornography. Sizemore was released so he could finish the film.

Commercial failure

Zyzzyx Road was shown at the Highland Park Village Theater in Dallas for the week between February 25th and March 2nd . This had been rented from the producers for $ 1,000. The reason for this procedure was that Grillo had to subject the film to the "US release obligation", which applies to low-budget films.

This strategy led to the film becoming the most commercially unsuccessful film of its time. 6 spectators brought a total of 30 dollars in gross profit. Unofficially, the movie was actually only $ 20 plus. The additional $ 10 came from Grillo, who gave makeup artist Sheila Moore and her boyfriend 2 cinema tickets. The film later surpassed The Worst Movie Ever! this negative record: he only sold one ticket and made $ 11. However, the film was actually and exclusively produced for DVD sales and rental, but the film had to have been shown in the cinema for the dubbing and the producers therefore rented the small cinema in Dallas.

The film was eventually released on DVD in 23 countries for $ 368,000.
