The series follows Katherine Heigl in the lead role of Sadie Ellis, a brilliant lawyer who falls in love with her client, played by Steven Pasquale , an altruistic child surgeon who was recently accused of murdering his girlfriend 24 years ago.

Production background

The series was originally developed for the 2015-2016 TV season, with KaDee Strickland originally starring Sadie Ellis and Teddy Sears in the role of William Brennan. After viewing this version, however, it was announced that the project would not go into series, instead would be changed, with Heigl and Pasquale would now take the lead roles.

reception

Axel Schmitt from the industry portal Serienjunkies.de gave the pilot episode a negative report. He says: “The only good thing about the pilot of the new CBS series Doubt is that it is making progress in front of and behind the camera towards diversity and acceptance. Unfortunately, it was forgotten to tell a coherent story with exciting characters. ”And“ Another problem is the tone of the series, which can hardly be classified. Sometimes you want to be airy, light, carefree genre television, sometimes deadly serious drama. In one moment the characters are teasing each other, in the other they have to argue in court for a subway nudger and murderer suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. "
