Cassidy Freeman (born April 22, 1982 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actress and musician . Her most famous role is that of Tess Mercer in The CW - TV series Smallville .
life and career
Cassidy Freeman was born in 1982 as the youngest of three children to a ranch couple who own a cattle ranch in Montana . Her older brothers are voice actor Crispin Freeman and musician Clark Freeman. Cassidy Freeman attended the Latin School of Chicago like her brothers and then studied theater and Spanish at Middlebury College , graduating with Magna Cum Laude in 2005 .
Her acting career began in 2006 with the award-winning short film Razor Sharp , in which she played Veronica Sharpe . In 2008 she got the role of Tess Mercer in the television series Smallville , which she impersonated until the end of the series in May 2011. In 2010 she also played the lead role in the horror film YellowBrickRoad , in which she also acted as executive producer. In 2012 she was seen in the TV series Vampire Diaries as a legend . She also played the lead role of Cady Longmire , the daughter of the character played by Robert Taylor , in the crime series Longmire between 2012 and 2017 in a total of six seasons .
She is an active member of the Heal the Bay organization , which works to protect and clean up the west coast of the United States . She is also involved in the Virginia Avenue Project , which works for underprivileged children in Santa Monica .
Cassidy Freeman forms together with her brother Clark Freeman and Andy Mitton the band The Real D'Coy , in which she sings and plays the piano . Her hobbies are hiking , sewing quilts , volleyball and water polo . She also has a Swiss Mountain Dog named Shasta .
