Sean P. Callery (* 1964 in Hartford , Connecticut ) is an American composer for television series and film music .

Life and accomplishments

Callery's family moved to Bristol, Rhode Island when he was approximately seven years old. Sean Callery learned to play the piano in his early teens. He was interested in different styles of music and played jazz in night clubs. He was trained in classical music at the New England Conservatory of Music , played the trombone and tuba in addition to the piano, took composition lessons and graduated from the Conservatory in 1987. At the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, he accompanied the singer Donny Osmond in a guest appearance on the piano. In December 1987, Callery moved to Los Angeles and worked for New England Digital , which built the electronic musical instrument Synclavier . He then taught a. a. the composers Alan Silvestri , James Newton Howard , Herbie Hancock and Mark Snow .

In 1989 Callery composed additional music for the Siegfried and Roy show in Las Vegas. He created music for movies and commercials. At the beginning of the summer of 1992 he toured briefly with Olivia Newton-John . Producer Joel Zusammenarbeit hired him for the original music for the television series Nikita (1997-2001) and for the theme song for 24 (2001-2010). In 2003, Callery won an ASCAP Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers for the dramatic television series 24 . In the same year he received an Emmy for Music in 24 for the episode 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM . In 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2007 he was nominated for 24 each for an Emmy. In 2006 he was awarded this prize for the episode 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM in 24 . In 2004 he wrote the music for the video game James Bond 007: All or Nothing . In 2006 he created the soundtrack for the PlayStation 2 game 24: The Game . In 2015 he wrote the score for the television series Marvel's Jessica Jones .

Callery lives in Los Angeles with his wife Debbie. He has an older brother.

Callery was nominated for 17 Emmys and received 4.
