Chucky and his bride (original title: Bride of Chucky ) is a horror comedy from 1998 and represents the fourth part of the seven-part series about the killer doll Chucky .

action

The psychopathic Tiffany procures the doll Chucky, which contains the soul of serial killer Charles Lee Ray, and sews it back together, which changes its visual appearance. Tiffany was Charles Lee Ray's then partner before he was shot and his soul ended up in the doll. Out of longing and lovesickness, she brings Chucky back to life.

However, Chucky shows little gratitude and makes fun of Tiffany's love and her marriage plans at the time. Tiffany then locks him in a playpen and humiliates him until he secretly escapes, kills her and also transfers her soul into a doll.

In order to become human again, they need an amulet, which is in the grave of Chucky's human body. To get there, Tiffany persuades her neighbor Jesse over the phone to drive the dolls to the cemetery for a thousand dollars. He and his girlfriend Jade desperately want to escape her strict uncle, a police chief, and therefore agrees.

Jade's uncle hides marijuana in Jesse's car so that Norton, a cop who is hired over and over by Jade's uncle to watch Jesse and Jade, can find it, is shot at with nails from the airbag but does not die. The two dolls then hide him in the foldable back seat. On the way, Jesse and Jade are stopped at a parking lot by Norton, whom they call "Sniffing Nose". Norton finds the marijuana in the car. Chucky explodes Norten’s car and the other people blame the two youngsters for it. The two stop at a church to get married. Meanwhile, Jade's uncle jumps up and is stabbed by Chucky. The dolls hide the corpse in the back seat. Tiffany kills a couple of thieves in the honeymoon hotel. Chucky is impressed and proposes to Tiffany. Tiffany agrees, the two dolls have sex and the bodies are discovered by the maid.

The two youths accuse each other; their friend David discovers the body and is run over by a truck. The dolls have revealed their identity and are threatening the youngsters with the thieves' guns. We continue to the cemetery. The dolls argue and the motor home they are driving in explodes.

At Chucky's grave, there is the grand finale, in the course of which Tiffany takes the side of the two young people, and Chucky rams a knife in the back, because she realizes that they really love each other, while Chucky is not capable of such feelings. Chucky is not dead and is fighting with shovels with Tiffany. Chucky rams the knife in Tiffany's stomach and is thrust into the grave. A policeman comes to the cemetery and Jade shoots Chucky with his revolver. The policeman takes Tiffany by the shoulder and she gives birth to Chucky 's child (see Chucky's baby ).

Reviews

"Black-humorous horror film about the character known from the three-part 'Chucky' cinema series of the late 80s, who plays with the stereotypes of the genre in numerous quotes and allusions, but ultimately relies too speculatively on the usual sequence of bloody shock effects."

“As early as 1988, director Tom Holland made the horror film 'Chucky - The Murderer Doll', the story of a mass murderer whose soul slips into a doll after his death. The second part followed in 1990 ('Chucky 2 - The killer doll is back'), and finally a third in 1991 ('Chucky 3'). As if this weren't enough nonsense, Ronny Yu now goes one better. That could have been a nice trash film, but despite some good ideas, the entertainment value remains modest. Horror fans will also find that great again. "
