Peter Pau
Peter Pau ( Chinese 鮑德熹 / 鲍德熹 , Pinyin Bào Déxī , Jyutping Baau 1 Dak 1 hei 1 , Cantonese Pau Tak-Hai ; * 1952 in Hong Kong ) is a cameraman and actor. He is the brother of actress Nina Pau (also Nina Paw) and the son of well-known Hong Kong actor Bao Fang, who died in 2006.
Live and act
He began his career as a cameraman in 1987 with the Hong Kong film The Seventh Power . For this work he was nominated for Best Cinematography at the Hong Kong Film Awards . In 1989 he shot the action film The Killer with director John Woo . In the same year, The Emperor's Warrior was created , in which Pau worked with Ching Siu-Tung . In 1993 he made his first joint film with Ronny Yu . Other joint productions followed, such as the film Creature Zone in 1996 , The Warriors of the Tao Universe a year later, and Chucky and his bride in 1998 . Pau's first Hollywood film was made in 1997 with the action film Double Team . His greatest success as a cinematographer was that of Ang Lee directed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon , for which Peter Pau in 2001 with the Oscar was awarded. He was also recognized at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards . Pau also works as a director, making his debut film Misty in 1992 . It wasn't until ten years later that he directed his second film, The Touch , with actress Michelle Yeoh taking on the lead role . The third directorial work followed in 2015 with Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal . His work as a cameraman includes more than 40 productions.
