Ching Siu-Tung
Ching Siu-Tung aka Tony Ching ( Chinese 程小東 / 程小东 , Pinyin Chéng Xiǎodōng , Jyutping Cing 4 Siu 2 dung 1 , born as 程 冬兒 / 程 冬儿 , Chéng Dōng'ér , Jyutping Cing 1 Dung 1 ji 4 ; * 1953 in Hong Kong ) a Chinese director , producer and martial arts - choreographer .
Ching is the son of the well-known Shaw Brothers director Cheng Kang ( 程 剛 / 程 刚 ) A whose family and ancestors originally came from Anhui . Ching grew up in the Shaw Brothers' film studios next to his father. At the age of 17 he was already working as a stuntman or extra and lion dance troupe B in the Hong Kong film industry . As a child he learned the northern fighting styles of the Chinese martial art C for seven years and completed his training at the Eastern Drama Academy D in Hong Kong. A school with training of the Beijing opers in acrobatics , singing, dancing and kung fu . At 20, he worked as an action choreographer in various film and series productions for local television stations and studios, such as ATV - formerly RTV - or TVB . In the 1972 Shaw Brothers production “ The Revenge of the Yellow Tigers ” - 十四 女 英豪 , English The 14 Amazons - with Ching's father as director, he was already responsible for the action choreography of the kung fu fight scenes. He made his debut as a director in the early 1980s. His film A Chinese Ghost Story (1987) - in collaboration with Tsui Hark - reached place 50 at the 24th Hong Kong Film Awards in the selection of the 100 best Chinese films on the occasion of the centenary of Chinese film .
Ching has a younger brother named Ronny Ching E , who also works in the Hong Kong film industry.
