Hans Jacob Uhle

Hans Jacob Uhle (baptized on 8. November 1653 in Hannover ; † 16th June 1702 ibid ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Uhle was a very busy sculptor in Hanover in the 17th century and created above all gravestones and monuments for churches and cemeteries in Hanover and in the region around Hanover .

The following works have been preserved in particular by Uhle:

in the monastery church Marienwerder the epitaph for the prioress Clara Eleonora von Ilten from 1694
Stand painting, dated 1684 and with the artist's signature consisting of the intertwining letters “HJU”, for the master shoemaker Hans Hagen (1627–1716) and his wife Margareta Wietgrefe at the Nikolaikapelle

Uhlestrasse

Uhlestrasse in the Groß-Buchholz district of Hanover, which was laid out in 1934, is named after the sculptor.
