Lovelace (Alternative Title: Linda Lovelace - Porn Star ) is a US-produced biographical film about former porn actress Linda Boreman , better known as Linda Lovelace, and her life between the ages of 20 and 32. Directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman . The film had its world premiere on January 22, 2013 as part of the Sundance Film Festival . ZDF showed the German free TV premiere of the film on May 11, 2015.

action

Linda Lovelace, who grew up in a strictly religious home, is under the influence of her violent husband and self-proclaimed manager Chuck Traynor , who persuades her by all possible means to comply with his demands and invents her "sensational aptitude for oral sex" . In 1972 the porn film “ Deep Throat ” hit like a bomb and turned the hitherto unknown Linda into a star. At the film premiere, she also meets Playboy boss Hugh Hefner , who makes her a clear offer. She rises to be a media darling and poster girl for the sexual revolution. At first the naive girl enjoys her new identity, but very soon she not only has to get to know the darker sides of the sex industry, but also those of her husband. When her husband beats her more and more often and forces her into prostitution , she tries to escape the destructive life between parties, violent drug abuse and sexual exploitation. The fragile woman breaks free from Chuck and tells the truth about her life to prevent other women from being similarly exploited.

production

In January 2011, pregnant Kate Hudson was offered the role of Linda Lovelace, while James Franco was under discussion for the role of Linda's husband, Chuck Traynor. In November 2011, however, it was announced that the two roles would be taken over by Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard. Sharon Stone pledged on November 16, 2011 that she would play Lovelace's mother. In December 2011, Franco received the role of Hugh Hefner . On January 2, 2012, Adam Brody and Eric Roberts were signed as Harry Reems and Nat Laurendi, while Demi Moore was only supposed to get one cameo as Gloria Steinem in the film. She quit a few weeks later, and Sarah Jessica Parker took over that role. However, Parker's cameo was ultimately deleted.

To prepare for the role, Seyfried read some of Lovelace's books and studied some videos in which her voice could be heard. She also watched the movie Deep Throat and underwent training to learn the New York accent. Seyfried said of Lovelace: “She was a completely different person than one would have expected. It's a story worth telling and I'm very, very excited. "
